The law was given to show all sinners their sins. All sin is WRONG and those who commit the wrongdoing will be held accountable. The judgment is based on the law broken by those who never turned from their sins to God. As in any human court; accused is brought in front of the judge and must answer for having broken the law.
However, those who turn to Jesus Christ and have their sinful nature removed by Him are able to do what is RIGHT, and they no longer do what is wrong because they receive the Holy Spirit to guide them. There is no law against doing what is right, and no one will be punished for doing good deeds. The record of their past sins is wiped clean by the powerful name Jesus Christ; they will not be judged for them, as long as they remain in Christ doing what is right.
Ezekiel 18:19-29 “What?’ you ask. ‘Doesn’t the child pay for the parent’s sins?’ No! For if the child does what is just and right and keeps my decrees, that child will surely live. THE PERSON WHO SINS IS THE ONE WHO WILL DIE. The child will not be punished for the parent’s sins, and the parent will not be punished for the child’s sins. Righteous people will be rewarded for their own righteous behavior, and wicked people will be punished for their own wickedness. But if wicked people turn away from all their sins and begin to obey my decrees and do what is just and right, they will surely live and not die. All their past sins will be forgotten, and they will live because of the righteous things they have done.
“Do you think that I like to see wicked people die? says the Sovereign Lord. Of course not! I want them to turn from their wicked ways and live. However, if righteous people turn from their righteous behavior and start doing sinful things and act like other sinners, should they be allowed to live? No, of course not! All their righteous acts will be forgotten, and they will die for their sins.
“Yet you say, ‘The Lord isn’t doing what’s right!’ Listen to me, O people of Israel. Am I the one not doing what’s right, OR IS IT YOU? When righteous people turn from their righteous behavior and start doing sinful things, they will die for it. Yes, they will die because of their sinful deeds. And if wicked people turn from their wickedness, obey the law, and do what is just and right, they will save their lives. They will live because they thought it over and decided to turn from their sins. Such people will not die. And yet the people of Israel keep saying, ‘The Lord isn’t doing what’s right!’ O people of Israel, IT IS YOU WHO ARE NOT DOING WHAT’S RIGHT, not I.”
Galatians 5:19-25 “When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. But THE HOLY SPIRIT PRODUCES this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow THE SPIRIT’S LEADING IN EVERY PART OF OUR LIVES.”
Jesus Christ during “Sabbath on Earth:”
John 5:15-24
“So the Jewish leaders began harassing Jesus for breaking the Sabbath rules. But Jesus replied, “My Father is always working, and so am I.”
Matthew 12:11-12 “And he answered, “If you had a sheep that fell into a well on the Sabbath, wouldn’t you work to pull it out? Of course you would. And how much more valuable is a person than a sheep! YES, THE LAW PERMITS A PERSON TO DO GOOD ON THE SABBATH.”
Ecclesiastes 8:5-6 “Those who obey him will not be punished. Those who are wise will find a time and a way to DO WHAT IS RIGHT, for there is a time and a way for everything, even when a person is in trouble.”
So the Jewish leaders tried all the harder to find a way to kill him. For HE NOT ONLY BROKE THE SABBATH, he called God his Father, thereby making himself EQUAL WITH GOD.
Mark 3:4 “Then he turned to his critics and asked, “Does the law permit good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for doing evil? Is this a day to save life or to destroy it?” But they wouldn’t answer him.”
1 John 3-6 “Anyone who continues to live in him will not sin. But anyone who keeps on sinning does not know him or understand who he is.”
So Jesus explained, “I TELL YOU THE TRUTH, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything he is doing. In fact, the Father will show him how to do even greater works than healing this man. Then you will truly be astonished. For just as THE FATHER GIVES LIFE to those he raises from the dead, so THE SON GIVES LIFE TO ANYONE HE WANTS.”
John 14:12 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.”
John 10:30 “The Father and I are ONE.”
In addition, the Father judges no one. Instead, he has given the Son absolute authority to judge, so that everyone will honor the Son, JUST AS they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son is certainly not honoring the Father who sent him. I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life.”
➡️ Therefore, Jesus Christ DID NOT “break the Sabbath,” it was only “broken” in the eyes of those who live according to their religion and tradition which is based on human wisdom, and NOT ON FAITH! Those who “think” they follow the law – don’t follow it at all! Jesus Christ exposed their hypocrisy:
Luke 14:1-6
“One Sabbath day Jesus went to eat dinner in the home of a leader of the Pharisees, and the people were watching him closely. There was a man there whose arms and legs were swollen. Jesus asked the Pharisees and experts in religious law, “Is it permitted in the law to heal people on the Sabbath day, or not?” When they refused to answer, Jesus touched the sick man and healed him and sent him away. Then he turned to them and said, “WHICH OF YOU DOESN’T WORK ON THE SABBATH? If your son or your cow falls into a pit, don’t you rush to get him out?” Again they could not answer.”
Luke 13:15-17 “But the Lord replied, “YOU HYPOCRITES! EACH OF YOU WORKS ON THE SABBATH DAY! Don’t you untie your ox or your donkey from its stall on the Sabbath and lead it out for water? This dear woman, a daughter of Abraham, has been held in bondage by Satan for eighteen years. Isn’t it right that she be released, even on the Sabbath?” This shamed his enemies, but all the people rejoiced at the wonderful things he did.”
Matthew 12:1-8
“At about that time Jesus was walking through some grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry, so they began breaking off some heads of grain and eating them. But some Pharisees saw them do it and protested, “Look, your disciples are breaking the law by harvesting grain on the Sabbath.”
Jesus said to them, “Haven’t you read in the Scriptures what David did when he and his companions were hungry? He went into the house of God, and he and his companions broke the law by eating the sacred loaves of bread that only the priests are allowed to eat. And haven’t you read in the law of Moses that THE PRIESTS ON DUTY IN THE TEMPLE MAY WORK ON THE SABBATH? I tell you, there is one here who is even greater than the Temple! But you would not have condemned my INNOCENT disciples if you knew the meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.’ For the Son of Man is Lord, even over the Sabbath!”
1 Peter 2:4-8 “And you are living stones that God is building into HIS SPIRITUAL TEMPLE. What’s more, you are HIS HOLY PRIESTS. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, YOU OFFER SPIRITUAL SACRIFICES that please God. As the Scriptures say, “I am placing a cornerstone in Jerusalem, chosen for great honor, and anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.” Yes, you who trust him recognize the honor God has given him. But for those who reject him, “The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.” And, “He is the stone that makes people stumble, the rock that makes them fall.” They stumble because THEY DO NOT OBEY GOD’S WORD, and so they meet the fate that was planned for them.”
*They do not obey God’s Word? Correct ⬇️
Deuteronomy 18:18-20 “I will raise up a prophet like you from among their fellow Israelites. I WILL PUT MY WORDS IN HIS MOUTH, and he will tell the people everything I command him. I will personally deal with anyone who will not listen to the messages the prophet proclaims on my behalf. But any prophet who falsely claims to speak in my name or who speaks in the name of another god must die.’”
➡️ John 1:14 “So THE WORD BECAME HUMAN and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.”
John 8:48-50 “But all who reject me and my message will be judged on the day of judgment by the truth I have spoken. I don’t speak on my own authority. The Father who sent me has commanded me what to say and how to say it. And I know his commands lead to eternal life; so I say whatever the Father tells me to say.”
Romans 14:5-9
“In the same way, some think one day is more holy than another day, while others think every day is alike. You should each be fully convinced that WHICHEVER DAY YOU CHOOSE IS ACCEPTABLE. Those who worship the Lord on a special day do it to honor him. Those who eat any kind of food do so to honor the Lord, since they give thanks to God before eating. And those who refuse to eat certain foods also want to please the Lord and give thanks to God. For we don’t live for ourselves or die for ourselves. If we live, it’s to honor the Lord. And if we die, it’s to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. Christ died and rose again for this very purpose—to be Lord both of the living and of the dead.”
John 15:22-25
“They would not be guilty if I had not come and spoken to them. But now they have NO EXCUSE for their sin. Anyone who hates me also hates my Father. If I hadn’t done such miraculous signs among them that no one else could do, they would not be guilty. But as it is, they have SEEN everything I did, yet THEY STILL HATE ME AND MY FATHER. This fulfills what is written in their Scriptures: ‘They hated me without cause.’”
Romans 13:10
“LOVE DOES NO WRONG TO OTHERS, SO LOVE FULFILLS THE REQUIREMENTS OF GOD’S LAW.”
1 John 4:7-8 “Dear friends, let us continue to LOVE ONE ANOTHER, for LOVE COMES FROM GOD. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for GOD IS LOVE.”
Matthew 22:37-40 “Jesus replied, “‘YOU MUST LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’ The ENTIRE LAW and all the demands of the prophets are BASED on these two commandments.”
The True Meaning of Sabbath
➡️ Sabbath means “THE DAY OF THE LORD”
2 Peter 3:8-10
“But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A DAY IS LIKE A THOUSAND YEARS TO THE LORD, AND A THOUSAND YEARS IS LIKE A DAY. The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but WANTS EVERYONE TO REPENT. But THE DAY OF THE LORD WILL COME AS UNEXPECTEDLY AS A THIEF. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve JUDGMENT.”
➡️ “THE DAY OF THE LORD” = JUDGMENT DAY = 1000 YEARS.
Revelation 20:4 “Then I saw thrones, and the people sitting on them had been given the authority to JUDGE. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony about Jesus and for proclaiming the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his statue, nor accepted his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They all came to life again, and THEY REIGNED WITH CHRIST FOR A THOUSAND YEARS.”
“THE DAY OF REST”
Hebrews 4:1-11
Promised Rest for God’s People
“God’s promise of entering his rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to experience it. For this good news—that God has prepared this REST—has been announced to us just as it was to them. But it did them no good because THEY DIDN’T SHARE FAITH of those who listened to God. For ONLY WE WHO BELIEVE CAN ENTER HIS REST. As for the others, God said,
“In my anger I took an oath: ‘They will never enter my place of rest,’”
even though this rest has been ready since he made the world. We know it is ready because of the place in the Scriptures where it mentions the seventh day: “On the seventh day God rested from all his work.” But in the other passage God said, “They will never enter my place of rest.”
So God’s rest is there for people to enter, but those who first heard this good news failed to enter because they disobeyed God. So God set another time for entering his rest, and that time is TODAY. God announced this through David much later in the words already quoted:
“TODAY when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts.”
Now if Joshua had succeeded in giving them this rest, God would NOT have spoken about another DAY OF REST STILL TO COME. So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. For all who have ENTERED into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world. So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall.”
Hebrews 3:16-17 “And who was it who rebelled against God, even though they heard his voice? Wasn’t it the people Moses led out of Egypt? And who made God angry for forty years? Wasn’t it the people who SINNED, whose corpses lay in the wilderness?”
2 Corinthians 6:1-2
“As God’s partners, we beg you not to accept this marvelous gift of God’s kindness and then ignore it. For God says,
“At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.”
Indeed, THE “RIGHT TIME” IS NOW. TODAY IS THE DAY OF SALVATION.”
➡️ How to be SAVED TODAY? SHOW FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST BY OBEYING HIS COMMAND TO REPENT!
➡️ Only THEN, you may ENTER God’s rest.
John 10:6-10 “Those who heard Jesus use this illustration didn’t understand what he meant, so he explained it to them: “I tell you the truth, I AM THE GATE FOR THE SHEEP. All who came before me were thieves and robbers. But the true sheep did not listen to them. Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures. The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”
The Holy Assembly
Leviticus 23:3
“You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of complete rest, AN OFFICIAL DAY FOR HOLY ASSEMBLY. It is the Lord’s Sabbath day, and it must be observed wherever you live.”
Revelation 20:6 “BLESSED AND HOLY are those who share in the first resurrection. For them the second death holds no power, but THEY WILL BE PRIESTS OF GOD AND OF CHRIST and will reign with him a thousand years.”
Leviticus 24:3
“This is the lampstand that stands in the Tabernacle, IN FRONT OF THE INNER CURTAIN that shields the Ark of the Covenant. Aaron must KEEP THE LAMPS BURNING in the Lord’s presence all night. This is a permanent law for you, and it must be observed from generation to generation.”
Hebrews 6:17-20 “God also bound himself with an oath, so that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure that he would never change his mind. So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our SOULS. IT LEADS US THROUGH THE CURTAIN INTO GOD’S INNER SANCTUARY. Jesus has already gone in there for us. He has become our eternal High Priest in the order of Melchizedek.”
Luke 12:35-40 “BE DRESSED FOR SERVICE AND KEEP YOUR LAMPS BURNING, as though you were waiting for your master to return from the wedding feast. Then you will be ready to open the door and let him in the moment he arrives and knocks. The servants who are ready and waiting for his return will be rewarded. I tell you the truth, he himself will seat them, put on an apron, and serve them as they sit and eat! He may come in the middle of the night or just before dawn. But whenever he comes, he will reward the servants who are ready. Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would not permit his house to be broken into. You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.”
Luke 11:33-36 “No one lights a lamp and then hides it or puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where its light can be seen by all who enter the house. Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light. But when it is unhealthy, your body is filled with darkness. Make sure that the light you think you have is not actually darkness. If you are filled with light, with no dark corners, then your whole life will be radiant, as though a floodlight were filling you with light.”
John 8:12 “Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I AM THE LIGHT of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”
2 Peter 1:19 “Because of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are LIKE A LAMP SHINING in a dark place—until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in your HEARTS.”
2 Thessalonians 2:1-8
“Now, dear brothers and sisters, let us clarify some things about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and how we will be gathered to meet him. Don’t be so easily shaken or alarmed by those who say that THE DAY OF THE LORD has already begun. Don’t believe them, even if they claim to have had a spiritual vision, a revelation, or a letter supposedly from us. Don’t be fooled by what they say. For that day will not come until there is a great rebellion against God and the man of lawlessness is revealed—the one who brings destruction. He will exalt himself and defy everything that people call god and every object of worship. He will even sit in the temple of God, claiming that he himself is God.
Don’t you remember that I told you about all this when I was with you? And you know what is holding him back, for he can be revealed only when his time comes. For this lawlessness is already at work secretly, and it will remain secret until the one who is holding it back steps out of the way. Then the man of lawlessness will be revealed, but the Lord Jesus will slay him with the breath of his mouth and destroy him by the splendor of his coming.”
