The Law of Moses

The Law is for the LAWLESS.

1 Timothy 1:8-11
“We know that the law is good when used correctly. For the law was not intended for people who do what is right. IT IS FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE LAWLESS AND REBELLIOUS, who are ungodly and sinful, who consider nothing sacred and defile what is holy, who kill their father or mother or commit other murders. The law is for people who are sexually immoral, or who practice homosexuality, or are slave traders, liars, promise breakers, or who do anything else that contradicts the wholesome teaching that comes from the glorious Good News entrusted to me by our blessed God.”

Galatians 3:19 “Why, then, was the law given? IT WAS GIVEN TO SHOW PEOPLE THEIR SINS. But the law was designed to last only until the coming of the child who was promised. God gave his law through angels to Moses, who was the mediator between God and the people.”

Most people live with the belief that sin is only something that is done physically. However; sins are born in human minds and hearts; they do not have to be manifested in the physical realm to be counted as sins. God looks at the hearts, and He wants to save your SOULS, not bodies. We cannot see our souls, but God does, and that’s where our hearts are also. Therefore, we need to look at the law of Moses from the Spiritual perspective, not the physical one.

The law came through Moses; who presented it from a physical perspective, but only before his death; in his call to “return to God” which is Repentance; he called people to change their hearts; in Hebrew scripture – “Circumcise the heart.”

Colossians 2:11 “When you came to Christ, you were “circumcised,” but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision—THE CUTTING AWAY OF YOUR SINFUL NATURE.”

Galatians 6:15 “It doesn’t matter whether we have been circumcised or not. What counts is whether we have been TRANSFORMED INTO A NEW CREATION.”
👉🏼 Physical circumcision does not matter. However, those who trusted in Jesus Christ, and then go for physical circumcision may be in a big trouble, as doing so shows lack of faith!👇🏼

Galatians 5:2-6 “Listen! I, Paul, tell you this: If you are counting on circumcision to make you right with God, then Christ will be of no benefit to you. I’ll say it again. If you are trying to find favor with God by being circumcised, you must obey every regulation in the whole law of Moses. For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace. But we who live by the Spirit eagerly wait to receive by faith the righteousness God has promised to us. For when we place our faith in Christ Jesus, there is no benefit in being circumcised or being uncircumcised. What is important is faith expressing itself in love.

1st Commandment

Deuteronomy 5:2-7
“The Lord our God made a covenant with us at Mount Sinai. The Lord did not make this covenant with our ancestors, but with all of us who are alive today. At the mountain the Lord spoke to you face to face from the heart of the fire. I stood as an intermediary between you and the Lord, for you were afraid of the fire and did not want to approach the mountain. He spoke to me, and I passed his words on to you. This is what he said: “I am the Lord your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt, the place of your slavery. “You must not have any other god but me.”

Moses’ Call to Repentance;

Deuteronomy 30:6 “The Lord your God will CHANGE YOUR HEART and the hearts of all your descendants, SO THAT YOU WILL LOVE HIM with all your heart and soul and SO YOU MAY LIVE!”

Matthew 22:36-38 “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?” Jesus replied, “‘You MUST LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”

James 2:10 “For the person who keeps all of the laws except one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God’s laws.”

When a person Repents; Jesus Christ sets them free from the law; so that they are able to obey it (without trying) because their hearts are changed – are no longer sinful and rebellious. They are the ones who express their LOVE by following Him in Faith (not their own effort);

God’s instruction: REPENT

Acts 17:30-31 “God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him. For he has set a day for judging the world with justice by the man he has appointed, and he proved to everyone who this is by raising him from the dead.”

Matthew 4:14-17 “This fulfilled what God said through the prophet Isaiah: “In the land of Zebulun and of Naphtali, beside the sea, beyond the Jordan River, in Galilee where so many Gentiles live, the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light. And for those who lived in the land where death casts its shadow, a light has shined.” From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.”

Matthew 11:20 “Then Jesus began to denounce the towns where he had done so many of his miracles, BECAUSE THEY HADN’T REPENTED of their sins and turned to God.”

Jesus Christ makes HOLY those who obey His commandment to SHOW FAITH by REPENTANCE. A holy person cannot break the holy law.

IDOLS such as money, careers, themselves, other people, possessions, ambitions, statues, paintings, carvings, addictions, etc. Those things control those who still live in flesh – the unholy; slaves to sin and death.

2 Peter 2:19 “They promise freedom, but they themselves are slaves of sin and corruption. For you are a slave to whatever controls you.”

Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.”

It takes the REJECTION of all of those things that replace God to be able to Repent. Saying “sorry” doesn’t change the heart; only God can change the heart when He sees that all these things are rejected by those who truly seek Him. It takes a broken spirit.
Psalm 51:17 “The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.”
Therefore, without the Rejection of the world and people, there is No Repentance, which means there will be no Love for God that fulfills this and other commandments. They all are considered broken. It’s RADICAL.

2nd Commandment

Deuteronomy 5:8-10
“You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind, or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected—even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me. But I lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations on THOSE WHO LOVE ME and OBEY my commands.”

God is the Spirit! The human eye has never seen Him.

Deuteronomy 4:15-19 “But be very careful! YOU DID NOT SEE THE LORD’S FORM on the day he spoke to you from the heart of the fire at Mount Sinai. So do not corrupt yourselves by making an idol in any form—whether of a man or a woman, an animal on the ground, a bird in the sky, a small animal that scurries along the ground, or a fish in the deepest sea. And when you look up into the sky and see the sun, moon, and stars—all the forces of heaven—don’t be seduced into worshiping them. The Lord your God gave them to all the peoples of the earth.”

When the Lord reveals Himself in His Glory to those who do get to  “see Him;” is it NOT their “human eyes” that see Him, but their spirit’s eyes. Human eyes can only see what exists in 3D world. Spiritual realm exists in higher dimentions. Therefore it is up to God to make a person see the unseen.

Colossians 1:16for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t seesuch as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him.”

2 Corinthians 3:16-18 But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.”

John 6:40 “For it is my Father’s will that all who see his Son and believe in him should have eternal life. I will raise them up at the last day.”

Hebrews 12:14 “Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.”

3rd Commandment

Deuteronomy 5:11
“You must not misuse the name of the Lord your God. The Lord will not let you go unpunished if you misuse his name.”

This is not only using the name of the Lord in vain through cursing; it’s also saying things that aren’t true about God. If someone doesn’t have an idea who God really is and talks about Him in their own ideas, they are breaking the Commandments.

Job 42:7 “After the Lord had finished speaking to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite: “I am angry with you and your two friends, for you have not spoken accurately about me, as my servant Job has.”

4th Commandment

Deuteronomy 5:12-15
“Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the Lord your God has commanded you. You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the Lord your God. On that day no one in your household may do any work. This includes you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, your oxen and donkeys and other livestock, and any foreigners living among you. All your male and female servants must rest as you do. Remember that you were once slaves in Egypt, but the Lord your God brought you out with his strong hand and powerful arm. That is why the Lord your God has commanded you to rest on the Sabbath day.”

5th Commandment

Deuteronomy 5:16
“Honor your father and mother, as the Lord your God commanded you. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.”

👉🏼 To honor is to show respect. It DOES NOT mean to obey. When we are young, we must do what pleases them, but as adults, we MUST separate ourselves from our parents, to be joined with Christ in Spirit; it’s a requirement. Parents CANNOT have any control over us. It’s not only a physical distance, but mental and emotional! You cannot allow yourself to be a slave of your parents, and do THEIR WILL, instead of the GOD’S WILL. Ungodly parents use this verse to manipulate their offspring into submission.

Ephesians 5:31-32 “As the Scriptures say, “A man LEAVES HIS FATHER AND MOTHER and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.” This is a great mystery, but it is an illustration of the way Christ and the church are one.”
Matthew 12:46-50 “As Jesus was speaking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him. Someone told Jesus, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, and they want to speak to you.” Jesus asked, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” Then he pointed to his disciples and said, “Look, these are my mother and brothers. Anyone who does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother!” 🙌 🙌 🙌 ❤️‍ 🔥
Matthew 10:35-37 “‘I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. Your enemies will be right in your own household!’ If you love your father or mother more than you love me, you are not worthy of being mine; or if you love your son or daughter more than me, you are not worthy of being mine.”

Anyone who in their adult life is doing the will of their parents, is breaking God’s laws.

James 1:8 “Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.”

6th Commandment

Deuteronomy 5:17
“You must not murder.”

Killing someone physically is bad; there’s no question about that. However, IT STARTS IN A HEART;
1 John 3:15-17 “Anyone who HATES another brother or sister is really a MURDERER AT HEART. And you know that murderers don’t have eternal life within them.”
Matthew 5:22 “But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell.”

7th Commandment

Deuteronomy 5:18
“You must not commit adultery.”

Adultery is sexual relation with anyone who is not your spouse. This also includes fornication which happens between those who aren’t married to one another. The root of it is LUST which also starts in a heart:

Matthew 5:27–28 “You have heard the commandment that says, ‘You must not commit adultery.’ But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”

Yes, watching porn breaks God’s laws. Is it possible to stop lusting after repentance?

YES! But only by being BORN AGAIN in the Spirit of God.

2 Corinthians 5:16-17 “So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now! This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”

Isaiah 61:10 “I am overwhelmed with joy in the Lord my God! For he has dressed me with the clothing of salvation and draped me in a robe of righteousness. I am like a bridegroom dressed for his wedding or a bride with her jewels.”

8th Commandment

Deuteronomy 5:19
“You must not steal.”

This is self-explanatory; do not take what does not belong to you. However; is it broken spiritually when we copy other people’s ideas and present them as own own, take credit for something we haven’t done, download content on pirated websites, scam for monetary gain, plagiarism, etc.

9th Commandment

Deuteronomy 5:20
“You must not testify falsely against your neighbor.”

This means lying, gossiping, and spreading rumors. Repeating something that was heard without verifying the facts.

Psalm 15:1-3 “Who may worship in your sanctuary, Lord? Who may enter your presence on your holy hill? Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right,
speaking the truth from sincere hearts. Those who refuse to gossip or harm their neighbors or speak evil of their friends.”

10th Commandment

Deuteronomy 5::21
“You must not covet your neighbor’s wife. You must not covet your neighbor’s house or land, male or female servant, ox or donkey, or anything else that belongs to your neighbor.”

This means ENVY and DESIRE of something that others have, but you don’t. Some people are envious to the point of getting things at whatever the cost. It also means creating false appearances to cause others to envy. Think of social media; are people really living the lives they present? And if they don’t; what’s the reason behind it? So others would envy them. Their lies create envy and cause them to fall.

Philippians 4:11-13 “Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”
1 Timothy 6:6-8 “Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content.”

FAITH AND REPENTANCE FREE US FROM THE LAW.

This does NOT mean we are free to break the law or won’t suffer the consequences if we deliberately break it.

It means Christ makes holy those who receive His Spirit, so that they would not break the law! That’s how the law is fulfilled!

No one is able to obey the law without the Spirit of Christ! Watch out for those who think they are freed from law but break it and tell others the same,. That is self-righteousness and denial of Jesus Christ! The same goes for those who think they are righteous by trying to obey the law by their own human effort – they are still slaves to it. They do not have the Spirit of Christ within them. They are unable to be righteous no matter how righteous they try to look or sound to others.

Matthew 5:17-20

Teaching about the Law

“Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God’s law will disappear until its purpose is achieved. So if you ignore the least commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God’s laws and teaches them will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. But I warn you—unless your righteousness is better than the righteousness of the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven!”

Colossians 3:5-6

“So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming.”

Galatians 3:10-12 “But those who depend on the law to make them right with God are under his curse, for the Scriptures say, “Cursed is everyone who does not observe and obey ALL the commands that are written in God’s Book of the Law.” So it is clear that NO ONE can be made right with God by TRYING to keep the law. For the Scriptures say, “It is through FAITH that a RIGHTEOUS person has life.” This way of faith is very different from the way of law, which says, “It is through obeying the law that a person has life.”

No one is righteous on their own!
Romans 3:10As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous—not even one.”

Righteousness is a GIFT.
Romans 5:17For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his GIFT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, for ALL WHO RECEIVE IT WILL LIVE IN TRIUMPH OVER SIN AND DEATH THROUGH THIS ONE MAN, JESUS CHRIST.”

Be honest with yourselves!

Romans 6:1-4

“Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.”
