The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the Father and Christ, Our Lord

Genesis 1:2 ”The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And THE SPIRIT OF GOD was hovering over the surface of the waters.“

John 4:24 ”For GOD IS SPIRIT, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”

Ephesians 4:4-6 ”For there is ONE BODY and ONE SPIRIT, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. There is ONE LORD, one faith, one baptism, ONE GOD and Father of all, who is over all, in all, and living through all.“

Hebrews 10:15-16 ”And THE HOLY SPIRIT also testifies that this is so. For HE SAYS, “This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.”

  • Jeremiah 31:33-34 ”But this is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel after those days,” SAYS THE LORD. “I will put my instructions deep within them, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. And they will not need to teach their neighbors, nor will they need to teach their relatives, saying, ‘You should know the Lord.’ For everyone, from the least to the greatest, will know me already,” says the Lord. “And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins.”

Hebrews 3:7-11 ”That is why THE HOLY SPIRIT SAYS, “Today when you hear HIS VOICE, don’t harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled, when they tested me in the wilderness. There your ancestors tested and tried my patience, even though they saw my miracles for forty years. So I was angry with them, and I said, ‘Their hearts always turn away from me. They refuse to do what I tell them.’ So in my anger I took an oath: ‘They will never enter my place of rest.’”

  • Psalms 95:6-11 ”Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before THE LORD OUR MAKER, FOR HE IS OUR GOD. We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care. If only you would LISTEN TO HIS VOICE TODAY! THE LORD SAYS, “Don’t harden your hearts as Israel did at Meribah, as they did at Massah in the wilderness. For there your ancestors tested and tried my patience, even though they saw everything I did. For forty years I was angry with them, and I said, ‘They are a people whose hearts turn away from me. They refuse to do what I tell them.’ So in my anger I took an oath: ‘They will never enter my place of rest.’”

1 Peter 1:10-11 ”This salvation was something even the prophets wanted to know more about when they prophesied about this gracious salvation prepared for you. They wondered what time or situation THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST WITHIN THEM was talking about when he told them in advance about Christ’s suffering and his great glory afterward.“

1 Corinthians 2:11-16 ”No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except GOD’S OWN SPIRIT. ”And we have received GOD’S SPIRIT (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit’s words to explain spiritual truths. But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means. Those who are spiritual can evaluate all things, but they themselves cannot be evaluated by others. For, “Who can know the Lord’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?” But we understand these things, for WE HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST.”

Philippians 1:19 “For I know that as you pray for me and THE SPIRIT OF JESUS CHRIST helps me, this will lead to my deliverance.”

The Sevenfold Spirit of God

Revelation 4:5 “From the throne came flashes of lightning and the rumble of thunder. And in front of the throne were seven torches with burning flames. This is THE SEVENFOLD SPIRIT OF GOD.

  • Many other Bible versions translate this passage as “Seven Spirits” instead of “Sevenfold Spirit,” which can be confusing. As humans, we tend to translate the meaning of things into physical reality. “Seven Spirits” may lead to an error in thinking that there are 7 “gods” or separate entities.
  • ABSTRACT; imagine seven torches burning together; when one torch is sent to give light/spread fire to a place or a person, it burns the same fire and doesn’t affect the remaining torches. When its purpose is accomplished, it returns to the remaining torches, burning the same fire together. This is how God’s Spirit “unfolds.”

The Sevenfold Spirit of God provides gifts (abilities) to do HIS WILL. Those abilities are given to people who obey God when He chooses to baptize them with His Spirit. (It is separate from water baptism)

1 Corinthians 12:1-11 Spiritual Gifts
“Now, dear brothers and sisters, regarding your question about THE SPECIAL ABILITIES THE SPIRIT GIVES US. I don’t want you to misunderstand this. You know that when you were still pagans, you were led astray and swept along in worshiping speechless idols. So I want you to know that no one speaking by the Spirit of God will curse Jesus, and no one can say Jesus is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit. There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. GOD WORKS IN DIFFERENT WAYS, BUT IT IS THE SAME GOD WHO DOES THE WORK IN ALL OF US.
A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. IT IS THE ONE AND ONLY SPIRIT WHO DISTRIBUTES ALL THESE GIFTS. HE ALONE DECIDES WHICH GIFT EACH PERSON SHOULD HAVE.”

1 Corinthians 12:28-31
“Here are some of the parts God has appointed for the church: first are apostles, second are prophets, third are teachers, then those who do miracles, those who have the gift of healing, those who can help others, those who have the gift of leadership, those who speak in unknown languages.
Are we all apostles? Are we all prophets? Are we all teachers? Do we all have the power to do miracles? Do we all have the gift of healing? Do we all have the ability to speak in unknown languages? Do we all have the ability to interpret unknown languages?
Of course NOT! So you should earnestly desire the most helpful gifts. But now let me show you a way of life that is best of all.”
